FRISCO, Texas (April 12, 2023) — More than 60 teams from the USYS Frontier Conference are competing in their final games of the league season April 15-16 at Rolling Hills Soccer Complex in Fort Worth, Texas. The event will feature boys and girls teams in the 14U-19U age groups.
With the Frontier Conference standings solidifying following the action in Fort Worth, there are several exciting matchups taking place during the weekend. The games in Texas will help decide 14 total berths into the 2023 USYS Southern Regional Championships — 10 on the boys’ side and four for the girls. There are also 19 places in the 2023-24 Conference Playoffs on the line this weekend, in addition to a berth directly into the 2023 USYS National Championships.
The Frontier Conference features teams from Arkansas, Oklahoma, North Texas and South Texas.
SOME GAMES TO WATCH ON SATURDAY, APRIL 15:
12 p.m. – 19U Boys, Northwest SC Esencial vs. Inwood SC ID Houston Legends 04B NLFC
This non-conference game is a National League P.R.O. 7th game in which both teams have the ability to qualify for the 2023 National Championships with a win. Northwest came away with a 5-1 win when the two sides met in Frontier Conference action back in October.
12 p.m. – 15U Girls, Fierce United 08G vs. Villarreal NTX 08G
Villareal could secure a first-place finish and place in the Southern Reginal Championships with a win, while Fierce is looking to begin a climb up the standings as it has three games remaining.
2 p.m. – 14U Girls, Fierce United 09G vs. DKSC 09G Nazier
Currently in second place, DKSC could clinch the top spot in the standings — and the accompanying place in Southern Regionals — with a win in this game. Meanwhile, Fierce could remain in the hunt for a top-two finish and spot in next year’s Conference Playoffs if it’s able to secure a victory.
2 p.m. – 14U Boys, Avanti Soccer Academy 09B West vs. Imperial SC 09B
The top two teams in the age group square off on Saturday. Avanti has a 1-point edge in the standings, but Imperial has a game in hand. A winner in this one would clinch the spot in the group.
6 p.m. – 15U Boys, Barcelona Soccer Club 08 Elite vs. FC Dallas ETX 08 Garcia
Both teams are in advantageous position to secure a spot in the Southern Regionals and next season’s Conference Playoffs. But the winner of this one would be in control of the race for first place.
6 p.m. – 17U Boys, Solar 06B Nezianya vs. OWS Barca Academy Austin 06B Blue
Each side has a couple games remaining, with Solar currently in first place and Barca in third. With the top of the table pretty tight, a win here would go a long way in locking down a finish in the top two.
6 p.m. – 18U Boys, FC Dallas 05B North Blue vs. South Belt YSC Leones 05
The top teams in a three-way tie atop the standings meet in this Saturday evening showdown. If either FC Dallas or Leones comes away with a win in this game, that result could be a deciding factor in which team finishes in first place in the conference.
SOME GAMES TO WATCH ON SUNDAY, APRIL 16:
9 a.m. – 16U Boys, Tigres San Antonio FC 07B vs. BVB IA Texas 07B Yellow
Both teams are in the top half of the table with two games left. BVB, in particular, has the chance to finish in the top two if it can win on Saturday and follow that with a victory in this matchup.
11 a.m. – 16U Girls, FC Dallas ETX 07G Premier vs. FC Westlake 07G
A 6-0-0 start to the season helped FC Westlake clinch first place, but it can complete a perfect season with a win in this game. On the other hand, FC Dallas (3-0-2) could have a chance to secure a second-place finish and spot in next year’s Conference Playoffs with a result.
11 a.m. – 19U Girls, Sparta FC 04G Houston Dynamo Dash 04/05 PA
The lone remaining game in this group features first-place Houston taking on third-place Sparta. Both teams are still in contention for the top spot and accompanying berth to the Southern Regionals. A win or tie is all Houston needs, while Sparta must win by multiple goals to overcome a potential three-way tiebreaker.
1 p.m. – 17U Girls, Georgetown SA Force 06G White vs. Arsenal SC 06G Red Zuazua
Depending on Arsenal’s outcome in its Saturday game, this matchup could decide which of the two sides finishes in second place.
